Planes, trains and automobiles…
1 ½ hour train ride to Oakville
$50 cab ride to the airport
13 hour flight Toronto to Tokyo…(with crazy man sitting next to Cooper (aka Michelle Owen) …he would sleep with his head under the blanket and then fly up like the living dead whenever we made any movement!)
3 hour wait at Narita airport
6 hour flight Tokyo to Bangkok
8 hour layover at hotel in Bangkok… and this is where the fun began!! (thanks to Theresa for the Grand Convenient Hotel recommendation!)
After sleeping on and off for the last 24 hours, Cooper and I were wide awake at 4:30am so we decided to book in for a 5am foot massage. It seems like a foot massage is not just about the foot here in Thailand. And if we were expecting a relaxing, soothing massage, we were sorely mistaken. It involved a little stick, a few painful grunts , and our bodies bending in ways we didn’t know they did…(or at least they hadn’t in the last decade or so…)

Then we were off to the airport for our 7:30 am flight to Phuket…
I have booked quite a few flights lately…so I think I’m fairly good at it… so my only guess is that it must have been the only flight class left but I somehow booked us into Business Class for our Bangkok to Phuket . So the lounge breakfast was a nice surprise but even us seasoned travelers squealed when they told us our seats were on the upper deck of the two story plane… We were in the front row, right behind the pilots!! This was one of the only times we wished our flight was a little longer!!
Here’s our itinerary for the next few weeks…
April 11th – Arrive in Phuket…meet up with the Habitat Team
Apr 12th – Day one of Build
April 13th – Day off… (is this a Union Build??) Thailand’s New Years
April 14th to 16th - Build
April 17th – Going to PP Island.
April 18th – Possible Elephant ride…
April 19th to 21st – Build
April 22nd – House Dedication (and yes we hope it’s done by then!)
April 23rd – R&R
April 24th – Cooper and I are hanging in Phuket
April 25th to 27th – The Michelle’s will be in Siem Reap, Cambodia
April 28th – Cooper flies home…
April 28th to May 1st – Michelle tours Bangkok…
May 2nd – Flying back to Canada!
